How is the house coming along?

So we signed the paper work on our house at the beginning of May. Then we waited, and waited and waited. Not much happened in May because our builder had to buy the lot from one of the other builders in the neighborhood.  Then in the last housing update-we finally saw a sign.

At the beginning of June, we traveled to see Jason's and my family as a little week get away.  Of course, this was the same weekend that things started to happen.  Before we left, we did get to see the foundation slab poured.  When we got back from our trip, we came home to this:

The next day we saw this:

Then this:

And by the end of that week we saw this:

 The next week this happened:

And this is Jason's favorite part on the back of the house:

 Then came the brick:

And now this is what it looks like:

Currently, the dry wall is in and they are working on the mudding and taping of walls and ceiling.

Jason and I have never built a house before, and honestly I never though I would ever have this opportunity.  It has been really interesting to see all the steps and how much changes over the period of a week-sometimes just a day!  It is really hard to believe that in less than two weeks we get to hold our son and three weeks from today we close on our new home-one we hope to be in for a LONG time and to be able to welcome family and friends who are visiting the Savannah area.

Spencer's Puppy Love

At the end of last month, Spencer and I traveled up to my grandparents-her great grandparents-to see my uncle and his family who live in Arizona.  I haven't seen is family since their son was 3 months old and he will be 4 next month!  Spencer and I stayed at my aunt's house down the street from grandmothers.  When we arrived at her house, one of their (my aunt likes to just say it is her husband's dog) hunting dogs had 2 week old puppies.  In case you didn't know, Spencer's first word was "dog".  When she saw these puppies-she was enamored to say the least.  This was 10pm and Spencer had not had a nap that day but that didn't stop her from going to play with the puppies!

Then Spencer decided that this one puppy must be hers.  She proceeded to take the puppy away from its momma and run away with it.  Here she is running with her prize and showing off what she deemed her puppy.

Then I had to take away the puppy so Spencer could go to bed.  And cue the TEARS!!!!!!!

The next day she found her puppy and held it for over an hour and half.  She rocked it on a bench outside and then we took it inside and she cuddled, kissed, and pet the puppy.

Once again bedtime came and I talked to Spencer about how the puppy needed to go to bed.  She nodded when I asked her if she wanted to put the puppy to bed and I told her we had to put it with its momma outside.  She willingly walked the puppy outside to give it to its momma but she cried the whole time!  Poor girl.

So the next morning she got to hold her puppy again.

Then it was time to get ready for church...but the puppy hung out after she got dressed too!

And then we had to leave for church-she returned the puppy but cried the entire time she gave the puppy back to her momma.

Once we came home she was excited to see her own dogs.  Spencer then though that Tilly was her puppy-unfortunately Tilly looks like a small puppy but has no interest in Spencer holding her.  Spencer now walks up to Tilly and says, "Hold?" and we try to get Tilly to sit in her lap but Tilly wants no part of it!  But we are glad that Spencer is saying this word even if she doesn't get to hold a "puppy"

Here's to hoping that mothering instinct will transfer to her baby brother coming in less than two weeks!
